HDPE Pipes as Per IS 4984
HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) Pipes conforming to IS 4984 are widely used for water supply systems, irrigation, industrial effluents, and other fluid transport applications. The Indian Standard IS 4984:2016 specifies the requirements for polyethylene pipes used for potable water supply.
- Standard: IS 4984:2016 (supersedes IS 4984:1995)
- Material: PE 63, PE 80, and PE 100 grades of high-density polyethylene
- Diameter Range: 16 mm to 1200 mm (outer diameter)
- Pressure Ratings: Class 2.5, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12.5 kg/cm² (corresponding to PN ratings from PN 2.5 to PN 16)
- Color: Usually black with blue stripes for water supply identification.
Classifications:-
HDPE pipes as per IS 4984 are classified based on three primary criteria: material grade, pressure rating, and nominal diameter. The material grades include PE 63, PE 80, and PE 100, each offering different levels of strength and durability, with PE 100 being the most robust.
