MDPE Pipes
MDPE stands for Medium-Density Polyethylene, a type of polyethylene with a density range between 0.926 and 0.940 g/cm³. MDPE pipes are widely used in various industries, especially for the transportation of gas, water, and chemicals.
MDPE is a thermoplastic polymer made from the monomer ethylene. Compared to LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene) and HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene), it has intermediate strength and flexibility.
- Flexibility:- More flexible than HDPE, making it easy to bend and install
- Impact Resistance:– Excellent resistance to shock and impact
- Crack Resistance:– High resistance to slow crack growth
- Chemical Resistance:– Resistant to acids, bases, and most organic solvents
- UV Resistant:– Often includes carbon black for UV protection in outdoor use
- Corrosion-Free:– Does not rust or corrode like metal pipes
- Durable:– Long service life (up to 50 years under normal conditions)
Classifications:-
MDPE (Medium-Density Polyethylene) pipes are classified based on several key parameters defined by national and international standards. These classifications help determine their material grade, strength, pressure capacity, and application suitability.
Material Grade
PE 63 – Older, lower strength (rarely used now)
PE 80 – Standard MDPE grade for water and gas applications
PE 100 – Higher strength; technically HDPE but sometimes referenced with MDPE for performance comparison
